Life of NICOLAS-JEAN-BAPTISTE RAGUENET

 Advertisements

French painter. He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Raguenet (1682-1755), actor and painter, and Geneviève Murgues. Father and son ran a busy workshop which produced views of Paris. Nicolas-Jean-Baptiste trained at the Acadmie de Saint-Luc. His views of Paris, especially those of the Seine, were painted with photographic precision, thus they have a documentary interest in addition to their artistic value. A large number of his views were acquired by the Muse Carnavalet in Paris.
